We're looking for at least 10 volunteers.
This is our first RailsBridge workshop at a computer lab in the Tenderloin; we're so happy to be able to do a workshop in a lab so that people who don't have computers can join us. The workshop is being advertised for women and genderqueer adult students by organizations in the Tenderloin instead of online.
The Tenderloin Technology Lab will provide a short orientation before the workshop (so please be there promptly at 9:30) as well as security. They also have a waiver for each volunteer to sign, and they ask that volunteers are people who have strong immune systems, and who are patient, humble, and compassionate. It'd be really great if you have experience working with underprivileged groups. Be aware that some students may have mental health or substance abuse issues.
Because we will be using the TTL's public computers, we have decided to work on the Intro to Rails curriculum using c9.io's online development platform, so please familiarize yourself with c9 before the workshop.
If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Glauser.
