The mission of MobileBridge is to diversify the mobile development community because we believe that the people making technology should reflect the diversity of those using it.

If you want, you may bring a +1 who is not a member of any under-represented-in-tech group.

‘Under-represented’ is a kind of vague term, so here are just a few of the groups we would love to see exploring mobile development with us!

- If you are African-American
- If you are Latino/a
- If you are Native American
- If you are LGBTQIA
- If you identify as a woman

This workshop will introduce you to Android app development -- the architecture of mobile applications in general and Android applications in particular, Java, XML, and Android Studio (the integrated development environment, or IDE, most commonly used for Android app development).

Programmers of all skill levels, even total beginners, are welcome. We will have different classes separated by experience level.

You should bring along a laptop -- Linux, Mac, and Windows machines are all welcome! We'll meet up on Friday to install all of the software you need, and then spend Saturday learning and writing code.

Sometimes people ask if the Friday night InstallFest is mandatory, and yes, it is! It's a crucial part of the weekend, even if you've already gone through the instructions independently. The reason that we're able to get through the curriculum on Saturday is that every single student has had their development environment checked, so we're all working in the same versions.

One alternate option available for students is to complete this InstallFest checkout via email and have received a confirmation email that the checkout is complete. If this is done *before* the start of the InstallFest, this requirement will be considered complete. If you are interested in checkout via email, read the Installation Checkout via Email page.
