This is a workshop for intermediate female developers who are new to Rust. If you identify as a woman (cis, trans, genderqueer, or gender non-conforming) and either are comfortable with one programming language or work professionally as a software developer, please join us. This is not a beginner class to learn programming fundamentals.
Each participant needs to bring her own computer with a fairly recent Mac, Linux or Windows installation. If you have questions about your hardware, please email us before the event.
If you already know Rust, please ask us about being a teaching assistant!
In this workshop, we'll introduce you to the fundamentals of the Rust programming language. We'll meet up Friday night to install all of the software you need, and then spend Saturday learning and writing code.
Friday, October 21, 6pm - 9pm -- Dinner, InstallFest & Networking
Saturday, October 22, 9:00am - 5:00pm -- Workshop (Breakfast and Lunch included)
Sometimes people ask if the Friday night Installfest is mandatory, and yes, it is. It's a crucial part of the weekend, even if you've already gone through the install instructions independently. There are a lot of subtle details to get right when setting up a development environment, and the reason that we're able to get through the curriculum on Saturday is that every single student has had their development environment checked beforehand.
It's important that if you sign up, you must attend. If you are unable to attend and you have RSVP'd, please be sure to update your RSVP so another student can take your place.
