This is a Scala programming event. Some programming knowledge is expected, but no advanced knowledge of Scala is necessary.
This workshop is intended to reach out to women, non-binary people, and all underrepresented populations who are interested in learning Scala. But is welcoming to all who are supportive of the cause and agree to follow the code of conduct.
In this workshop, we'll take you through the basics of functional programming in Scala, a powerful language that has uses in everything from web applications to data science to large-scale distributed systems. By the end of the day, you'll have built several doodles, have a basic understanding of functional programming, and a grasp of Scala fundamentals.
This event is sponsored by 47 Degrees in association with the Lambda World Seattle conference.
47 Degrees HQ is located at 321 3rd Ave. S. Suite 205, Seattle, WA 98104
Street parking in downtown Seattle is free on Sundays but can take a minute to find. Parking is more available a few blocks up in the International District. However, we highly recommend using public transportation. Our office is next to many bus routes, the Chinatown International Station, the Lightrail, and the streetcar.
Food and drinks will be provided during this workshop.
Stay tuned!
