Event Postponed - Building Maintenance
Sorry everyone, we just found out that our building will be doing maintenance on the water line on 9/7.
So we won't have any bathrooms. We are postponing the event and looking for another date that works with the building and company.
More info soon.
Workshop Description
This workshop is intended to reach out to women, people of color and LGBTQ/Nonbinary people who are interested in learning Ruby on Rails. Students who do not identify as a member of these groups are welcome to attend as a guest (+1) of an attendee who does. RailsBridge is emphatically queer and trans friendly.
In this workshop, we'll take you through the process of building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the day, you'll have an application that connects to a database, reads and writes data, and renders HTML in a browser.
We'll meet up Friday to install all of the software needed, and then spend Saturday learning and writing code. Programmers of all skill levels are welcome and students will be separated into different classes based on the experience level they choose when signing up.
Sponsors
Big thanks to
Instacart for hosting & sponsoring this workshop!
Who is This Event For?
Total programming novices, web designers, system administrators, and developers of other languages are welcome to attend.
Transportation and Parking
The Embarcadero BART Station is 1/2 block away. That is your best bet. If you are driving, there is limited street parking (might be easier on Saturday). There are also garages nearby that may or may not be open on Saturdays.
Currently, we don't have access to the bike room for guests. We
might be able to work this out by the workshop date, but no promise :(
Food and Drinks
Instacart will be sponsoring food and drinks.
Friday night: Pizza (what did you expect, this is a tech meetup. It's basically illegal in SF to provide anything else)
Saturday morning: Muffins, bagels and coffee.
Saturday lunch: Taco bar!
Afterparty
We'll be hosting a small happy hour in the Instacart office after the workshop on Saturday evening.
