In this workshop, we'll take you through the process of building interactive web applications using Elm, a delightful frontend language for reliable web apps. By the end of the day, you'll have built an interactive web app and have a basic understanding of functional programming.
We'll start the morning with installing all of the software needed, and then spend the rest of the day learning and writing code. To attend this event, you should have at least some familiarity with another programming language (like Ruby, Python, or Javascript). Students will be separated into different classes based on the experience level they choose when signing up. If you are completely new to programming, you should look at attending a RailsBridge event instead, or wait for a future ElmBridge event when we hope to offer more-introductory workshops.
Agile teams, consulting & development for good software solutions. We strengthen your innovative power with individual IT technology and thinking around corners.
NoRedInk has the largest commercial Elm codebase in the world, and has hired Elm creator Evan Czaplicki to develop the language full-time. We spend almost all of our front-end coding time writing Elm. Our software helps English teachers, and their students answer millions of questions per day on our site. About 3/4 of our 30-person engineering team works remotely from around the world, and the other quarter is in our San Francisco office. We're hiring for full-stack, ops, and engineering managers. No prior Elm experience necessary!
