Workshop

Location: General Assembly - 902 Broadway 4th floor

9:00am - 5:00pm Saturday, November 9th

In this workshop, we'll take you through the steps to build a web application. We'll have different classes depending on experience level. Total novices can start with an Intro to Programming, while experienced programmers can jump right into Ruby and Rails. By the end of the workshop, you'll have an application on the internet that connects to a database and reads and writes information.

6:00pm - 8:00pm Saturday, November 9th

After students have successfully concluded the workshop we will head over to Handybook for 2 hours of open bar, appetizers and lots of other good stuff!!!

Student Checklist

Each participant needs to bring their own laptop.

If you have a Mac, download and install Xcode on your laptop before coming to Installfest on Friday. (Xcode is the software that creates a coding environment for you to tinker with during the workshop.) Xcode is a very large file that takes 2-3 hours to download and cannot be done at the Installfest.

Download the version of RailsInstaller that is right for your machine. This is not as download-intensive as Xcode, but it is still wise to download ahead of the Installfest on Friday.
