Workshop Description

Didn't get enough last time? Well, we're back with more Rails! This time we'll be creating our own message board system in Rails!

This workshop is limited to 20 students so don't put off registering because you probably won't get a spot!

And if you sign up but don't get the confirmation email, check your spam folder!

Things to Consider

Make sure your development environment still works! If it doesn't, please come to the InstallFest on the 28th to get help fixing it up!

We've "sold out" both events so far only to have people not show up or cancel at the very last minute. That makes it really hard on the folks on the waitlist who don't get bumped up until the last minute and can't make it and means we can't get everyone in who wants to attend. We work really hard to put these events on and we'd love it if the people who sign up show up, or at least cancel with enough notice that folks on the wait list have enough notice to make it.

Prerequisites

You'll need the following things to be able to successfully participate in RailsBridge:

  • Successfully completed the Intro class!
  • A working development environment (hopefully the one you set up last time)
  • A reasonably up to date laptop running Windows, OS X or Linux
  • The power cord for that laptop
  • A little patience
  • A little curiosity
  • A way to get to the Coastal Georgia Center!

Sponsors

A huge thank you to our sponsors who are giving of both their money and time to make this event free for everybody!

Transportation and Parking

Parking for patrons in the Coastal Georgia Center Parking lots is free, and a parking pass is not needed. If the upper and lower Coastal Georgia Center parking lots are full, free parking is available in the overflow lot just across West Boundary Street from the Coastal Georgia Center lower parking lot.

Parking is also available in the adjacent Savannah Visitor Information Center lot where the first hour is free and additional hours, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. when the parking lot closes are $1 each.

Food and Drinks

We'll have snacks for the InstallFest and breakfast, lunch and snacks on Saturday, so come with both an appetite for learning and one for food!

Afterparty

We will definitely have an after party, even if we all just decide to go somewhere afterwards. We're still working out the details for this, so stay tuned!
