Start time: 6:30 pm PST
End time: 6:30 pm PST

Friday, February 4th, 6:30-9pm (REQUIRED): software install fest
Saturday February 5th: 9:30am-4pm: workshop
5pm: after-party for volunteers & attendees, location TBA
This workshop is intended to reach out to women who are new to Ruby and Rails. Men are welcome to come; please find the woman/mature-female in your life who wants to learn Ruby and Rails and who will register then bring you as a guest.
We are looking for additional volunteers, both folks who know Ruby on Rails to TA and people who are willing to help with logistics. Please sign up here: http://www.meetup.com...

Twitter is located at 795 Folsom St San Francisco, CA 94107
In this workshop, we'll take you through building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the workshop, you'll have an application on the internet that connects to a database and reads and writes information. We'll meet up Install Fest day to install all of the software you need, and then spend workshop day learning and writing code. Be sure to attend this especially if you are on Windows, because Rails 3 can be a bit tricky on Windows.

Total programming novices, system administrators, developers in other languages, and folks who attended our previous workshops are all welcome. We'll have different classes separated by experience level. Each participant needs to bring his or her own computer.
When you RSVP you'll be asked a few question about your operating system, level and type of programming experience, and whether you will be bringing any children. We will plan for a playgroup on site if you're bringing a child.
Snacks will be provided Friday evening and lunch will be provided on Saturday.
If you have questions or ideas for us, the best way to get in touch is to send a message to the organizers.
If the event has filled up already and you want to be on the announce list for future workshops, we have a google group: http://groups.google....

Here's a link to the installation notes for the software that you will need to install:

Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the instructions for your OS.  If you get stuck, don't worry and just download everything and we'll help you out at the install fest.  It'll save you a lot of time on Friday night if you've already downloaded the software.

Mac Users:  By far the most time-consuming part of the installation is installing Xcode (you will need your OS X DVD to install it -- instructions are in the install notes).  Please, please, please do this before you come to the install fest on February 4th!

Have a great week and I'll see you soon!
