Workshop Description

Interested in learning how to program? Want to build your own web application? Never written a line of code before and are a little intimidated by nerds? There's no need to be! RailsBridge is a friendly place to get together and learn how to write some code.

We're doing something new this time and doing just a single course, the new Intro to Javascript session! So, we need volunteers who know some Javascript, and students excited about learning something new! This course is appropriate for anyone who's interested in learning how to program, or front-end developers who want to add Javascript to their tool belt.

And if you sign up but don't get the confirmation email, check your spam folder!

Our Policy on Kids

We think having kids between the ages of 8 - 18 attend RailsBridge is awesome!! But, because we're barely responsible adults ourselves, we don't want to be responsible for them. But, we'd love it if parents and kids attended together! So, if your kid wants to attend, you should both sign up and come together! We'd love to have you!

Things to Consider

We've "sold out" most of our events so far only to have people not show up or cancel at the very last minute. That makes it really hard on the folks on the waitlist who don't get bumped up until the last minute and can't make it and means we can't get everyone in who wants to attend. We work really hard to put these events on and we'd love it if the people who sign up show up, or at least cancel with enough notice that folks on the wait list have enough notice to make it.

Prerequisites

You'll need the following things to be able to successfully participate in RailsBridge:

  • A reasonably up to date laptop running Windows, OS X or Linux
  • The power cord for that laptop
  • A little patience
  • A little curiosity
  • A way to get to the Coastal Georgia Center!

Sponsors

A huge thank you to our sponsors who are giving of both their money and time to make this event free for everybody!

Transportation and Parking

Free parking is available at the Coastal Georgia Center, though there will be another event taking place, so parking may be in short supply.

Food and Drinks

We'll have breakfast, lunch and snacks on Saturday, so come with both an appetite for learning and one for food!

Afterparty

We haven't had a formal after party, but since we'll be downtown, there's no reason we shouldn't go hang out afterwards at The Distillery across the street!

Organized By:

6 volunteers!

23 students!
